About this experience
The Tonle Sap lake grows to several times its size in the rainy season, and the communities around it have adapted in remarkable ways. In Kompong Phluk, houses stand on stilts up to ten metres high, and life moves by boat for half of the year.
With a responsible local operator, you visit the village and its school and pagoda, then switch to a small wooden canoe paddled by a local woman through the flooded mangrove forest. Finish on the open lake for sunset (seasonal). Water levels vary: from January to May, part of the visit is on foot.
Groups are kept small and the pace relaxed, with time for photos and questions. A private version is available on request — just mention it in your enquiry, together with any dietary needs or mobility requirements.
